The company MARATEK Proyectos, as project manager for the construction works of the new Winoa Ibérica plant in the Arla industrial estate in Balmaseda, signed the staking out and kick-off of work together with Sprilur (as developer) and Hnos. Sobrino (as contractor). This means that the company Winoa Ibérica will remain in the Biscayan municipality. The works will last until June 2017.

The relocation of the plant and the previous public-private partnership agreements are aimed at the expansion of an industrial project of interest for the development of the Encartaciones region.

Previously, in June 2012, in order to favour the permanence of this industry in Bizkaia, the Balmaseda Town Council, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Basque Government and Winoa Ibérica agreed to move its facilities to the outskirts of the municipality and locate the new plant on plot 1 of sector UA.1 of “Arla”.

The total area of the plot where Winoa Ibérica will be located is 28.927 m2, its occupation is 16.619 m2 and the buildable area is 10.191 m2. The maximum height of the buildings will be 11 metres and will consist of a ground floor plus one storey. The building project includes different uses in its composition: four industrial buildings, an office building and two annexes for complementary services to the factory.
