Industrial Boiler Shop of Haizea Wind at the Port of Bilbao

Adaptation of the preliminary design, drafting of activity and execution projects, and construction management for the development of an industrial boiler shop at the Port of Bilbao.

Haizea Wind entrusted Maratek with the construction project of an industrial facility at the Port of Bilbao, intended for the production of offshore wind towers and other components for export to the European market.

The facility consists of a 500-meter-long and 22-meter-high industrial building equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, built to the highest standards of safety and prevention.

The plant occupies approximately 77,000 m² on the AZ-2 quay of the Port Expansion in the Outer Abra, specifically in the Zierbena area, with direct access to the docking quay, which has a draft of 21 meters. This generous draft and proximity to the quay enable the most competitive inbound and outbound logistics without dimensional restrictions.

Haizea Wind’s strategic location within the port area is directly linked to the nature of its production, as it involves large-scale components that are difficult to transport by land and are destined for offshore installation.

Four industrial warehouses and an office building were constructed, with a total usable area of 47,000 square meters.

The facility has the capacity to manufacture 540 large offshore wind tower sections per year, in addition to other large components used in offshore wind farms such as monopiles and transition pieces. The plant’s versatility also allows for the production of components for onshore wind farms if required.
