Civil works for the electrical substation of the Statcom system at the Aceralava plot in Amurrio (Álava) for the Tubacex Group

The Tubacex Group is a multinational company dedicated to the manufacturing and installation of stainless steel products and special alloys, as well as advanced machining services, whose headquarters are located in Álava, specifically in the municipality of Llodio. At one of its production plants, specifically Aceralava (Amurrio – Álava), it has implemented a new STATCOM System, which is a high-power static synchronous compensator used to regulate and compensate the reactive power of a network.

To this end, Tubacex contracted MARATEK to provide the engineering services for drafting the detailed design project for the civil works of the STATCOM system electrical substation, in order to apply for the corresponding building permit from the Amurrio Town Council. Additionally, MARATEK carried out procurement management and construction supervision duties.

For the drafting of the detailed design project, it was necessary to take into account, in addition to the applicable regulations, the various existing geological, physical, and urban planning constraints in the project area: soil type, terrain type, flood risk of the area, hydraulic component, setback regulations, etc.
